Changes to Windows XP with Service Pack 2

We have tested the Beta version of Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Windows XP. The SP2 release will include an enhanced Firewall for Windows and a new embedded Pop up Stopper for Internet Explorer.

As long as the Internet Explorer Trusted sites are set up correctly no further set up needs to be done for the Windows Firewall or the Internet Explorer Pop Up Stopper.

After installing SP2 all of the Web Zones will say “Custom” In the Trusted Sites zone this can be reset to Default Level to be sure the minimum settings are used in trusted sites.

At this time you should check to make sure the trusted sites are properly entered for the Domains used with Interlink. They should appear exactly like the below image.

If they do not appear like this, set them up again according to our trusted site documentation.  This will assure proper functioning of the new Windows firewall and Internet Explorer pop up stopper.

The Pop Up Stopper is in the Internet options under Privacy. It replaces the section that had the override cookie-handling list.  That function was moved to the “sites” button.

It defaults to “block pop-ups” when installed. Again, if trusted sites are set up, nothing needs to be done with the pop up blocker settings.

The Firewall controls are found in Windows control panel and is active when in installed.  The only requirement for Interlink is setting up the trusted sites in Internet Explorer as described above. The Firewall will allow any web site that is in the trusted sites.
