Adobe fails to open document or shows grey screen in Adobe Acrobat Reader
Do one of the following:
Solution 1: Update to the latest Adobe Acrobat
-- To update to Acrobat 6.0.1:
1. Start Acrobat 6.0.
2. Choose Help > Update.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the update.
- To update to Adobe Reader, download the update from the Adobe Web
site at www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.
Solution 2: Save the PDF file to your hard drive, and open it in Acrobat
or Adobe Reader.
1. Right-click the link to the PDF file on the Web site, and then choose Save
Target As (Internet Explorer) or Save Link As (Netscape Navigator).
2. In the Save As dialog box, select a location on the hard disk, and then click
Save.
3. Double-click the PDF file to open it in Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
Solution 3: Disable Web Browser Integration.
Launch Acrobat Reader 5.X or Adobe Reader 6.0 by clicking on Start, Programs then Acrobat Reader 5.X or Adobe Reader 6.0.

Click Edit then
Preferences. 
For Adobe Reader 6.0 Click Internet and then deselect the check box for Display PDF in browser and Check browser settings........ Click OK. This will open the PDF doc in a new Acrobat Reader window and resolve errors relating to the Internet Explorer Plug-In.
Note: If future attempts fail to open reports,
you can also try manually opening Acrobat Reader after the report has been
called, it will open with the last file requested in view.
