DNS Errors - Page Can Not Be Displayed

Checking for DNS errors getting to Deerbrook or Encompass Insurance web sites.

Click on Start then Run

Type Command in the run line and hit enter.

At the prompt type "ping deerbrook.com" -or- "ping encompassinsurance.com" and hit enter.

If the DNS is correct it should immediately return with the underlined  numbers below:

 

pinging deerbrook.com [167.127.172.27] with 32 bits of data. 

pinging encompassinsurance.com [167.127.172.32] with 32 bits of data

(ignore the four "request timed out lines"). 

 

If instead  it returns with the old IP address underlined below there is a DNS problem:

pinging deerbrook.com [167.127.161.22] with 32 bits of data, 

pinging encompassinsurance.com [167.127.169.59] with 32 bits of data

Or "Unknown host deerbrook.com" or "Unknown host encompassinsurance.com"

Here is an exaple of a DNS error with Deerbrook which resolved to the old IP of [167.127.161.22].

 

To correct a bad local DNS table, do the following.

Windows NT and Windows 98

1. In the same command prompt as above, type "ipconfig /release" and hit enter.

2. Then type "ipconfig /renew" and hit enter.

Note: There is a space between ipconfig and the /.

Windows XP and Windows 2000 Pro in the same command prompt as above, type,

1. In the same command prompt as above, type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter.

Note: There is a space between ipconfig and the /.

Repeat the DNS test.
